Cooperation among evacuees in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.


This research project was funded by the National Science Foundation (SES 0552439). The NSF bears no responsibility for the findings from this research. The project combined data from attitudinal surveys with behavioral experiments conducted in the field.

The research was carried out in Houston, Texas in three waves. The first was from September 10-19, 2005. The second wave extended from October 21 - November 5, 2005. The final wave was from July 11 - 21, 2006.

The Principle Investigator for the research team was Rick Wilson (Rice University).

Notable help came from Sam Whitt (U. Tennessee) who joined the team for the field research, Gavin Dillingham (Rice University) and numerous others.
